International White Cane Day Festival 2019
Vision Australia in partnership with Central Coast Council would like to invite you to the ‘International White Cane Day Festival’ at Gosford Waterfront.
The day will kick off at 9.30am with fun filled activities related to White Cane and Blindness/Low vision awareness.
The ‘White Cane’ is recognised as a symbol of independence for many from the blind and low vision community while also playing an important part in supporting their users to be active and independent, whether it’s at home or further abroad.
When: Tuesday 15th October 2019
Where: Gosford Waterfront Lions Park, 10 Masons Parade, Gosford – (between the Gosford Olympic Swimming Pool and the Gosford Sailing Club)
Activities will include:
- Blind cooking demonstration with Chef Daniel.
- Mystery Box Cook Off between two local members of the blind and low vision community. The winner will be chosen by a tasting panel of local celebrities.
- White Cane Walk with sighted, low vision and blind participants, run by the Achilles Running Group.
- Blind Sports demonstrations: Cricket, Soccer, Goalball & Tennis and autograph signing from Blind Sports NSW and National team mentors.
- Mums and Bubs Messy play run by Nicky Nacky Noo.
- Circus skills activities: hula hoops, flower sticks, poi, rola bola, slack-line, stilts, unicycle and juggling.
